Subaru unveiled its new electric SUV, the Uncharted, at an event in New York. The company’s third all-electric vehicle, following the Solterra and Trailseeker, the Uncharted is based on Toyota’s next-generation C-HR. It’s positioned as a more compact SUV than the Solterra.

Posting directly in the electric SUV segment alongside vehicles like the Volvo EX30 and Rivian R2S, the Uncharted features Subaru’s signature design language. Sharing a lighting signature with the Solterra and Trailseeker, the model features a high shoulder line, black logos, silver bumper detailing, and aggressively designed LED taillights. The vehicle is available with new 18- and 20-inch wheels.

Its production line utilizes Toyota’s e-TNGA platform developed for electric vehicles. All versions feature a 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery. The car is equipped with a standard NACS charging port and, with 150 kW DC fast charging, can reach from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes.

The Uncharted is available in three trim levels: Premium FWD, Sport, and GT. The Premium version is designed with front-wheel drive. This is Subaru’s first front-wheel drive model in many years. This 221-horsepower version is said to offer a range exceeding 492 kilometers (290 miles) on a single charge. The company states that this model will be produced in limited numbers.

The Sport and GT versions feature Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive system. These two models, available with X-Mode driving assistance, have 338 horsepower. Their maximum range is stated as 467 kilometers (287 miles). Both versions accelerate from 0 to 96 kilometers (60 mph) in around 5 seconds.

The interior features a large 14-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support are standard. Two wireless phone chargers are located in the front, while two USB-C ports are available for rear seat passengers.

All versions come standard with the All-Weather package, which includes heated front seats, heated windshield wipers, and heated side mirrors. This package also includes a driver attention monitoring system and a power liftgate.

The Sport trim offers features such as the dual-mode X-Mode system, StarTex water-resistant upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and a panoramic surround-view camera. The top-tier GT trim comes equipped with premium features such as a panoramic glass roof with a motorized sunshade, 20-inch wheels, a Harman Kardon sound system, ventilated front seats, and a digital rearview mirror.

Pricing information has not yet been released, but Subaru is reportedly planning a starting price for Uncharted below $30,000. The vehicle is scheduled to go on sale in 2026.
